The High Seas Alliance in collaboration with the Arctic Youth Network, co-hosted a two-day session for IUCN’s Global Youth Summit from 12-13 April, 2021, entitled The Forgotten Half of the Planet: Empowering Youth In High Seas Governance.
The sessions focused on educating and empowering youth to engage in the high seas treaty process and how other youth are influencing and engaging in high seas governance issues (i.e. BBNJ, DSM, 30×30, CCAMLR MPAs). Over 100 youth from around the world participated in the 2-day event and discussed pathways forward to increase youth engagement in high seas issue
