HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, Chile’s Environment Minister and COP25 President Carolina Schmidt, Pacific Islands Forum Secretary General Henry Puna,, Belgium’s Minister of Climate, Environment, Sustainable Development and Green Deal Zakia Khattabi, together with Ministers and Ambassadors from Australia, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Fiji, France, Indonesia, Ireland, Panama, Spain, Seychelles, Sweden and UK, launched the 3rd Because the Ocean Declaration during COP26. The Declaration calls for ‘mobilising decision-makers and all actors to urge and support the conclusion of an ambitious new agreement under UNCLOS on the conservation and sustainable use of marine biodiversity beyond national jurisdiction (BBNJ) in 2022 and its entry into force as soon as possible.”
