EU Global Ocean Programme Technical Assistance Facility

The entry into force of the BBNJ Agreement calls for more diverse sources of support to capacitate current and future State Parties to be more knowledgeable in fulfilling their obligations and engage meaningfully in the BBNJ processes.

The EU Global Ocean Programme (GOP) can provide significant support among partner countries of the European Commission Directorate-General for International Partnerships to enhance their capacities to implement and benefit from BBNJ. The EU GOP Technical Assistance Facility (TAF), being implemented by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), “is a dedicated mechanism that offers responsive, context-specific expertise to support countries in enhancing their capacity for high seas biodiversity governance” by mobilizing high-level expertise through a coordinated, needs-based approach.

The online briefing with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and organized by the High Seas Alliance, aims to provide countries with practical information and guidance to efficiently access the EU GOP Technical Assistance Facility. Rewatch the webinar below.

This event is part of the High Seas Alliance recently launched webinar series “Let’s Talk BBNJ”.
